Ending the Game with a Narcissist

January 23, 2013

I am a firm believer that in some ways you create your own reality. This universal axiom applies to narcissists, as well. Narcissists, though, having no awareness of true power sometimes unwittingly manifest exactly what they desire.

Below is a quick little poem speaking to this energy:

“Skipping Along”

Oh, my silly, silly narcissist
Look at you-

Child at play with the game of life
Skipping as you do

And like a child, you have your own
skip-along song:

“Me, Myself, and I!
Me, Myself, and I!”

The song provides rhythm and beat,
the pentametric measures
a source of inspiration to your ears.

“Me, Myself, and I!
Me, Myself, and I!”

The chanting becomes inclusive.
Every narcissist loves
an audience
and that we fulfill.

“Me, Myself, and I!
Me, Myself, and I!”

To your skipping,
we add rope twirling.

Always the witness and observer are we.
Our participation would alter
your manic rhythm.
“Me, Myself, and I!
Me, Myself and I!”

As you point out to us,
your favorite saying
“Me, Myself, and I”
suffers horribly in translation to “We”

You skip with glee
Crying
“Me, Myself, and I!
Me, Myself, and I!”

We try to alter the rhythm
of our twirls-
it does not matter

Your pentametric anthem never falters.

“Me, Myself and I!
Me, Myself and I!”

You only notice when
we are gone,
dropping our twirly-ends
chanting merrily in penta-rhythm

“We are done with you!
We are done with you!”

You never understood the game you played
and the rather simple fact all
children come to learn-

others may not want to play with you.

Crestfallen, now you stand,
as the rope, and your life,
lay limp around you.

But take heart,
my silly, silly narcissist
You got exactly all that you hoped
You are now solely and completely
“Me, Myself, and I!
Me, Myself, and I!”

Narcissists want everything to be all about them and only them. The poem speaks to the fact to be careful what you wish for. Most narcissists end up with exactly what they desire – a lot of time spent in the condition of “Me, Myself and I”. I have to thank a writer from the site Stevehi312.

He responded with the idea of “Me, Myself and I” describing a narcissist in response to one of my blogs- check out his site. also, I realize in this poem I took liberty with the “pentameter” format.
