Why the World Desperately Needs Women to Speak Their Truths
” A Woman’s Voice”
My sister, my sister
How long have you been silent?
Your vision scorched, as the sun set upon the harvest,
and still you said nothing?
Why, my sister, why?
Did you believe in your strength to re-birth?
How many times, my sister, how many times?
I have watched you-
And in awe I have stood
as the world poked its dark
head from your hairy lips-
and only then did you lend
silence your precious voice.
In birth your cry out, but not in death?
Why, my sister, why?
When you were little,
(by which I mean, before you were Woman)
was silence a choice or an opinion?
Let me end my silent choice, sister, and let me express:
God did not grant you the world
between your legs and upon your breast
For you to hold your tongue, tight-fisted
While all around you ended.
I wrote this because I believe too many women are encouraged (or forced) to be silent. We are the ones who birth the world. Is this the only time we will allow our voices their full power- as we scream with the coming life? Or, shall we support one another as we learn to open up another area of our body, our throats, to birth a new world? We witness such horrors and yet bring life into this world again and again. The world needs us to release our tongues.
In the picture, the infinity symbol is located in her throat area. It is red- the color of the first chakra, which indicates the physical of the world. Her words are creating the world.

So true!
Thank you! I truly believe that women will continue to change the world by speaking their truths.
Amazing! I must reblog this!
HI! Thank you so much for the re-blog. You are the type of woman who uses her voice, and I so believe each in our own way, changes the world by doing so.
Beautiful. And I don’t understand why more women aren’t screaming to end violence, in all its incarnations.
Thanks so much. I feel the same. Some women are not allowed to speak, but for thos of us who have a voice, we must use it.
Powerful poetry. I really enjoyed it!
Thank you!!
I’m reblogging this!

Thank you so much. I believe the world needs our voices as women.
Great post Lynette,
I also believe by speaking out, we take a clear stance on how we expect to be treated. We fight abuse….. together.

And thank you Kimberly, for posting it first!

Amazing, honest, revolutionary post. I suffered so from my silence that it has been painful to even contemplate writing about it – because I thought, had been taught that “no one wants to hear your drama/trauma”. Now, you have given me the courage to go forward. Confirmation that women are supporting women in light, beauty and with wisdom.
Oh yes! I can tell from even this brief comment, that the world needs to hear from you! How dare any one take your experiences and simply label them as “drama/trauma”. That burns me up. It’s not “drama/trauma”, which is such a belittling phrase, it is YOUR LIFE and YOUR EXPERIENCES. Women have been silenced for too long for exactly this reason. Tell you story. I am telling you, others and even yourself, need to hear it.
I just got a chance to read your comment just now and I am deeply touched. Your words are yet amazing confirmation that the universe has been providing for me. Earlier this morning when I arrived at work, I was settling in at my desk, feeling deep gratitude for being employed. I was also feeling completly submerged in a sense of well being that I am on my divine path nad that I am finally awakening to the bliss of realizing that my life’s work is writing. I began to have the sensation of very electric, very pleasant tinglng the fingertips of both hands. It was lovely and felt like my whole soul was dancing in my fingertips. This experience was spiritual confirmation that I can bring love into the world as a writer. I have been gathering my stories and organizing posts so I can start blogging. Your willingness to respond to my comment in such a loving, kind and supportive voice has provided much needed additional verification to the messages that the universe has been providing me. I release all fear and resistance, I trust my voice, I open myself to give love and support to others and speak to other woman from the truth of my own experiences. Mamy thanks for your loving kindness and spirit of kinship on this journey. ~ Naazima
Hi! I am so glad my words touched you. Of course, you were already in a beautiful state. Anyone who arrives at work and is conscious enough to feel gratitude at the opportunity of employment is well on their way to further blessing this world with their awareness. In those moments of well-being you came into touch with a sense of yourself that is transformative. Please believe what you have to offer is a blessing to the world. It is….
