Why Creative People Need Silence

The Secret of Silence

The Secret of Silence

“Why I Love Silence”
Silence-
In its wisdom
Absorbs everything,
rejecting nothing

Its warm embrace
accommodating even that which
insists it does not fit.

Ever adaptable,
Silence enfolds and becomes
a container for the
discordant

With its alterable presence,
Silence solidifies, enabling
you to come into your next breath.

Never preaching
Always listening

Silence-
Holds and like the
knowing lover;
releases you to the world
emerging from the Void
as you did upon
your birth.

Silence gives us the space and time to be who we are. Silence accepts everything and holds everything in its place. Silence holds us as we take our next breaths.
I think creative people, especially, need silence. We are constantly working with ideas, new-ness, different forms, things that may fit together and things that may not. It’s difficult work, yet silence holds it all for us. In silence, we find rest and respite and then when we are ready, we emerge from our silence ready to re-create our worlds.

  1. So true..totally agree with this concept of silence & creativity..

    • I like the idea that silence holds everything. As creative individuals, we can get overwhelmed by all the sensory input we try to transform into something.

      • Yes really.. silence gives us time to concentrate, to focus , to introspect, to think out of the box, and above all..to pick up pieces & create a meaningful art :)

  2. Beautiful words! Yes and so true, I write best at 4 a.m. when my immediate environment is most silent.

  3. beautifully, you make silence sound wonderful.

  4. I crave the silence!

  5. I am restored in silence. I need that space to make associations and rest. It’s so very difficult to find silence anymore. It’s free but rare. I cherish it when I find it. Thanks for a lovely resonating post.

    • Thanks for your kind words. I feel the same about silence. I struggle to find it, too. :) But, I do find if we at least acknowledge our need- even if only to ourselves- it helps :)
